Christmas Light Show 2011

(Updated on January 5, 2012, 10:45 p.m.)

The Light Show is CLOSED.

Thanks for a wonderful year of many viewers!
We'll be back this coming Christmas season.
I already have a few songs picked out and a couple of exciting ideas.

The below picture was what caused some of the show not to work earlier in the showing schedule.
Squirrels chewed through some of the wiring.

Squirrels have been chewing my cables
I also lost two sets of LED lights due to the squirrels chewing off the light bulbs.

Please follow twitter and this website for future updates.

The Light Show will OPEN again for the 2012
Christmas season. Watch for details here or twitter.
5:30 - 11:00 p.m.

Check this page to be sure we are open before driving out.

A video of the 2010 Light Show
Each year I put on a Christmas Light Show. This show was edited and produced by CJ Smith, korinra@gmail.com
The quality is always better when seen in person. The show for 2010, seen here, was started on November 3, 2010
and took 35 to set up, programming for 12 hours, and testing for 3 hours. The show has 96 separate
circuits of lights. Each year is different. Visit dalesclockshop.com for more info.

Our home is operated and mainly run by a computer.  Since 2002, I have
been using a computer program to run the current Christmas Light Show.

See Links Below or Pictures and Video HERE for previous shows

This year's show includes a laser light, strobe lights,
AND 96 separate circuits!

After you have seen the light show, please comment below

Since this is a computer controlled display, driving
in during the set times will automatically turn it on.

The show is FREE, but donations are accepted
to offset the cost of equipment and operations.

Thank you very much to all who donated.

Facts about 2011's setup:
Updated on January 5, 2012
Set up began on October 27, 2011

Totals so far:

Programming - 10 3/4 Hours.

Testing - 5 Hours with about the same amount of time
finding the broken wires and replacing them and retesting.

Setup time - 39 3/4Hours

TOTAL Time - 55 1/2Hours

The show was delayed this year due to rainy weekends where I couldn't set up, and then
I needed more cables and had to wait for them. Also some squirrels ate the lights
off of two sets of LED lights and I had to repurchase them at $15.00 a set and find broken cables
that the squirrels chewed up.

Total vehicles counted - 226, which includes two small busses.
On Christmas eve there were 37 vehicles; the most ever in one night.
There was another small bus and over 20 some vehicles that
came when it wasn't on due to rain or not working from the
rain and squirrel problems. Some still drive in and leave within
1 minute as they either don't have the radio tuned in or just want
a static display and not a light show that lasts 4 minutes and 20 seconds .

6 Dasher Boards (now a newer product), each with 8 separate
electrical connections, for a total of 48 separate outlets

3 Light O'Rama boards, each with 16 circuits that can
fade in and out, shimmer or twinkle

1 computer, 1 FM transmitter.

Over 400 feet of Network Cable.

Numerous extension cords, lights and electrical wiring.
